Earlier on Friday evening, the lorry-drivers’ general assembly decided to go ahead with their strike, despite the civil conscription ordered by the government and the risk of arrest this ensues for every striker. Hours after the decision was announced, riot police appeared in an distribution point in Thessaloniki and tried to guard a conscripted lorry, clashing with the strikers who were guarding it.
The first full-on strike against the IMF is now in full swing.
Updates as they come.

Its a battle and so everyone is looking for allies. The state has mobilized to support the rule of big Capital(financial industrial ). And is anxious to sacrifice the petty bourgeois as instructed by the IMF. At this moment a temporary alliance between the opponents of oligarchy is possible. Workers and small scale owners.
The army is taking to our streets.
All out!
For anarchy, for dignity, for solidarity.
Nothing else is to be said at this moment: people, the army is out on our streets.
We all know what we need to do.
The national roads that used to be full of vehicles during the last weekend of July are almost empty, as the people do not expect to find a gas station open. The ships, until now do not have serious problems, but regime-allined media report that already one ship (Armyoni, that does the rout Thessaloniki-Skiathos-Skopelos-Volos) did not sail due to lack of fuel.
Reports say that the army is going to use its means to supply gas stations, in a desperate effort by the government to break the strike. The author of this post has no idea if such move has ever happened in the past, during the days of democracy, as it is (if confirmed) an obvious intervention of the army to a political crisis.
Situation for first time so tense.
The rest of the sectors have not done any moves yet, leaving the lorry drivers alone, even though it’s sure that the government will try to open the rest of the so called ‘closed proffesions’ (which are not few) in the next weeks.
In other news, the minister of Labour announced that he cancells all labour agreements of unions and bosses that have agreed to an augmentation of the income of the workers, and also cancells all juridical decisions that justified workers’ unions of the private sector that asked and managed to take augmentations for the workers.
This actions is also outside his jurisdiction, according to the laws and the constitution of the democracy.
We in the anarchy movement in the states salute our brothers and sisters in the struggle to reclaim their lives from the brutal and inhumane system of greed and destruction! You are all an inspiration to us all! Fight ON!
About what it’s said to the post No 4, until know it’s not confirmed that the army will supply normal gas stations, but will do so only to hospitals, electricity producing units and other public facilities. It’s still a strange move by the government to ask the help of the army.
Need also to be pointed out that the syndicalist in this sector are totally autonomous, meaning that no party is behind them, but also they are in a way isolated and do not have enough coordination with other social or political groups. Still this strike is the most strong one that we have seen for years.
What is to be done? In order to survive their current crisis greeks must form singleminded national unity, a true patriotic will to defend their country and people. They need iron willed leader who is not afraid to make tough decicions. They must form a goverment of national unity that will represent all classes in society. Everyone will have to take part rescuing their country, if someone i trying to take a “free ticket”, he/she must be punished severely. This is the only way to build strong and prosperous nation, anything else is just waste of time.
get the fuck off with your stupid national thinking.
greece has the chance to finally finish the suppression through leaders, money and dependence. a society without authorities is the only way to live in peace. the peaople should form collectives and communities and start living independent.
this is the time to proof once again that anarchy is possible!
I understand your hate for money and authority, but we need these things to fulfill mankinds eternal dream to be masters of universe by space travel. We need 13 more planets, we need to start with Mars, NOW! Nuke its poles in order to create climate suitable for human beings, then travel to other galaxies. I ask you, can we do this if we go living small anarchist agricultural collectives? No, we need every single nation in this planet to be economically powerful and strong so that they can produce technical parts for space shuttles, weapons and other things needed.
you got to be kiiding me!
can someone kick him out of here.
wow i never read that kind of bullshit…
Well there’s WEREWOLF who heralds the collapse of Capitalism with a mental collapse of own. It should be obvious to a mollusk that among the first thing that the intelligent apes of planet earth need to dump is the division of their world into nation states. You can certainly put me down for a Euro towards the cost of a shuttle that will take WEREWOLF to any other planet.
The other person who told you that you are being foolish wasn’t clear enough, I don’t think. What you are talking about, in every possible way, is antithetical to pretty much any idea of anarchy or anarchism that i’ve ever heard of, and that’s where you are, on an anarchist webpage. ‘We’ think that centralization of power is not just problematic, but is pretty much one of THE biggest problems.
Some anarchists think that we could develop beautiful and helpful technologies in our small federated anarchist communities that we wish to make reality, and i don’t have too much of a problem with that, as long as they’re not poinsoning the ground-water to do it. But the insanity that you’re describing sounds like a fascist hell in which we kill off the planet in the next few generations.

Small minds never get the big picture. The biggest challenge humankind will face is to get out of this planet and find new galaxies. Space travel is our future, otherwise we will be doomed. It is our divine destiny to follow in the footsteps of Kristopher Kolumbus, Marco Polo etc and discover the deepest secrets of space around us, and then we will find god. If you do not understand this then you will rot in the hole you dig for yourselves. Free your mind, youre being prisoners of your own existence.
WEREWOLF the central problem for Human survival is the eradication of the Capitalist system of social production. Class society in general and Capitalism in particular is a wonderful device for accelerating technical innovation. But since the technologies develop on the basis of social exclusion and class society it is practically (and theoretically) impossible to find any means of controlling the long run impact of the systems of production on human existence. Even when it is clear that these processes can easily exterminate the human race. The planets will have to wait until humans have changed the way they live.
@ werewolf
If we get off our own planet and onto others with any trace of our current technology, and/or many of our current social relation patterns, we’d fuck up everything we find out there, destroying other planets the way we have destroyed our own. I think your ‘god’ that you think is hanging out somewhere at the edge of the galaxy, might be a little pissed off at you for raping not only your own planet, but raping other worlds as well. personally i think that your mind is too small and selfish to consider it that way though.
@ werewolf
let me guess, we’ll eventually solve that cold fusion problem and all of a sudden everything will be shiny and clean? ignore the fact that you’ll have to use tons of rare heavy metals dug up from what little wilderness is left is africa and china, in processes that kill the surrounding biodiversity. ignore the fact that we’ll strip mine our own world bare just building a few of those shiny space ships to fly around the galaxy, and then repeat the process whereever else we can on other worlds we have no right to. we can just pretend like one little technological fix will solve everything. hooray great white god in the sky with a big puffy beard for giving me the answers!
werewolf is trolling. obviously no anarchist would agree with what hes saying. on a different note, would you really want to spread a system like capitalism to other planets? i would rather an anarchist universe.
Please, can’t you just ignore the fascist space-cadet who thinks he will find “god” in outer space once he has irradiated Mars…Who thinks the Imperialism of early explorers was “divine destiny”…Do me a fucking favour!
I will not continue this discussion. I see that you are being so hostile towards my ideas of space travel. I just want to say to you all that it is not about spreading capitalism to another planes, its about spreading humanity and making our dreams come true. I pray for you all, you are very important, i have nothing against you.

You all talked the biggest crap I’ve ever seen. If Greeks had paid their bloody taxes IMF would not have been involved to that. Nothing from what you see would have happened. You are idiots. What do you expect from a socialist government? It was much better with the right wing because PASOK wants a communist country Albania style. This country needs tough politicians and not heart of loathian morons. Keep Greece conservative with a tough government and kick the socialist utopia away from the country.
