And just a little bourgeois economic history here. The industrial revolution in England reduced the earnings of thousands who spun and wove cloth as independent artisans. They tried to compensate by working longer hours. But its not longer hours that count but more productive hours. It is possible to work less hours and less intensively and still produce more. Its a question of technique and science not 19th century moral categories. Still I don't doubt the dim witted Carl thinks the value of paper money an intrinsic property. He's the sort of person who if he survived a nuclear war would as his first act rob a bank. According to EU statistics Greeks are the hardest working in Europe (some work more than 1 job). There is a black market in Greece that employs over 300,000 people and not to mention the fact that Greeks boast the lowest wages in Europe yet the local corporate elite/ oligarchy can't take advantage of that because they are too busy sucking the fat off big government contracts and stealing people's money. So, why should Greeks pay taxes if their money will be stolen and not used towards the needs of the people. Why do you think they are so pissed off in the first place?
