Anti-repression demonstration took place yesterday in Thessaloniki too. About 2000 demonstrators. No riots erupted and no chemical gasses were used (something actually rare). Demonstrations yesterday also in Trikala, Chania, Rethymno, Giannena, and many neighborhoods of Athens. Also gatherings happened in metro stations and central squares of Athens and text were handed to people and read through microphones. In Mytilene and Thessaloniki occupations of radio stations. In many universities the students have occupied the buildings, after student assemblies. This happens in response to the extraordinary repression and the entrance of the police into the university. They demand 1st: drop all charges and immediately release all the people that were arrested for any reason the last days, 2nd: your hands off the academic asylum. They also condemn the state policy about education and labor conditions and ask for general prohibition of firing from jobs and abolition of the laws about universities that the last administration had passed (about privatization, entrance of companies into the university etc – these had passed in 2006-2007, despite a large student movement that happened then and only managed to stop a part of the laws). The students plan new demonstrations for Thursday, and anarchists call too.
Ni un paso atras…
Meanwhile, a person was set free today. [The following information is not 100% confirmed, but we'll clear the facts in a next post.] He was charged for having with him a bag with molotof cocktails and it was very probable that he was going to go to the prison. Nevertheless, a video during his arrest showed that he had no bag at all with him. The cops admitted that they had given the bag to the arrested person. This is not astonishing and is just one of the many fabricated charges, that drop due to the luck of this person that his arrest was filmed. Go on like this, greek police, and maybe in a while even the rocks will hate you…

I may need to clarify some things, because they may be misunderstood: by “occupations of radio stations” i mean that they go into the studio, read on air some texts and then leave. It doesn’t mean that they occupy them for long.
The demands of the student movement are usually very optimistic and show the direction of what they want. The repression is very strong (depending also on the city…) and already some demonstrators are imprisoned (pretrial detention). This in greece could last up to a year. I don’t have a total number of the arrested and the detained, but it is very big.
FREEDOM AND FREEDOM NOW!
[Statement of the Surrealist Group of Athens on the wave of riots in December, 2008]
The ghost of freedom always comes with the knife between its teeth
Shooting in the flesh is the high point of social oppression
All the stones removed from pavements and thrown to cops’ shields or shop-windows of the commodity’s temples; all the flaming bottles drawing orbits under the night sky; all the barricades erected on the city’s streets, separating our areas from theirs; all the bins full of rubbish of a consumerist society that the riot’s flames transformed from nothing to something; all the fists raised over the moon; these are the weapons giving flesh and real power, not only to resistance, but freedom, too. It is this feeling of freedom that only deserves to bet on in these moments: the feeling of forgotten mornings of our childhood, when everything can happen because it is us, as creative human beings, that have awaken up, not the future productive human-machines of the subordinate, the trainee, the alienated worker, the private owner, the family man. It is the feeling of confronting the enemies of freedom – not fearing them anymore.
So, everyone who wants to continue minding their own business, as if nothing is happening, as if nothing has ever happened, has serious reasons to be disquieted. The ghost of freedom always comes with the knife between its teeth, with the violent mood to break every chain that reduces life into a miserable repetition, useful for the dominant social relations to reproduce themselves. Since Saturday the 6th of December no city in this country functions normally: no shopping therapy, no free roads to reach our workplaces, no news about government’s next recovery initiatives, no carefree zapping among lifestyle TV shows, no night drives around Syntagma square and so on. These nights and days do not belong to shop owners, TV commentators, ministers and cops. These nights and days belong to Alexis!
As surrealists, we have been out in the streets from the very first moment, together with thousands rebels and other people expressing their solidarity, because surrealism has been born by the street’s breath and does not intend to abandon it. After the massive resistance to state murderers, street’s breath is even warmer, even more hospitable and even more creative. Proposing a direction to this movement doesn’t correspond to us. However, we accept full responsibility for the common struggle, because it is a struggle for freedom. Without being obliged to agree with every expression of such a massive phenomenon, without being partisans of blind anger or violence for its own shake, we consider this phenomenon’s existence right.
Let’s not let this flaming breath of poetry to just defuse or die!
Let’s convert it into a certain utopia: the transformation of world and life!
No peace with cops and their bosses!
Everybody in the streets!
Whoever cannot understand the rage can just shut up!

at least 858 detentions and 177 arrests across the country. some are set free, some will be in jail without trial (pretrial detention), some will pass from the attorney’s office in the next days. also many are injured seriously or have respiratory problems due to the chemical gasses.
The info about the person that was charged with fabricated molotofs is confirmed and is as presented above.
hopefully those in prison will be able to organize dirsuptions, strikes, riots, civil disobedience, etc.. inside the prisons to disrupt business as usual inside and stretch the state thin.
good luck in greece to everyone there!
As far as my 2 cents know there are/were actions in prison(s)like refusing food!
alright… feeling alright, hmm the anarchistes BUT who is doing the house work?
me? or you? stupid me: translating all e shit from grecia into krauts AND why?
fuck scum up into the fathasuckas mouth!
WE ARE A UNITY OF REAL COMMIES AND A’S:
AUTONOMIA
AUTONOME & ANTIIMPERIALISTISCHE BEWEGUNGUNG
it was always so in the eighties in germony:
we had no names, we were commies and we were punx and alln together we were AUTONOMOUS
what is ya problem?
UNITY OF THE REV.
Good luck comrades!
how ta say. i’m checkin ya shit sinnnnnce and nope ya have no idea. in a way it makes sense with DC
here ya got some input from fathasuckin berlin, we gonna clean up our hood: no cops, non cars, no nazis!
we’re are better than Exarchia! cuz we kill more cars!
see this: we laugh about Athens
we are better!
http://www.brennende-autos.de/
we gonna kill all carss!
give us all them names of the people the cops killed this year. i know about these folks but ya don really point it:
was alexis more worth than the others?
The list of names is big. Nobody said that the reasons to protest aren’t continuous. We like or not, though, the murder of Alexis was the trigger. This may be due to the fact that it happened in Exarchia (which has a certain history), in front of many people, that anyway the tension was high at that period and many other reasons. Many conversations have taken place in assemblies about his, and i can’t see the point of asking such a question through this forum.
i know it hurts in a strange way -& i’ve brought up in a ugly slapshot: SORRY/BUSY) but i think the tension came with the refugee slaughtered to death end of nov 2008, another refugee got murdered by police around new years eve and another in spring time. then a fighting prisoner on the ferry boat to crete(?) got punched to death. The Pakistani in Nikea. i think that’s important also i think that if it’s important what europe’s media is writing ya should check that they all write about the clashes as an anniversary!
They just corperate it like 1st of may riots from hools.
i would think it’s enough to teach greek media (in an action) but on the other hand there are student actions in germoney since 3 weeks or so AND: some c.i.a. influenced media accused greece with TANKS!
This shit ya can only put into context with flyers a.s.o. on cha home streets and make clear that there willbe lots of o.o.t. partisans from other countries fighting together with the dynamite fishers from … figure out!
p.s.: we’ll gonna try a benefit-sampler with greek punk/hc/underground to cover some shit. If ya like it we can work together and make an “OL-record” before i sell the idea to Cali/A.T. – i also got some bands who are not from Greece from an old project i never finished: AND THEY ARE GOOD BANDS/ BUT THE GREEK ARE BETTER
-BORRIBLE fixed gear hooligan
b.t.w. cuz yer not in london right now, can you pl get infos from Larnaca/Cyprus about the 4th, there were some kids attacking the pig station cuz the coppers hunted one kid to death.
on 4th somebody smashed stones and a dying Molotov to the political police of germoney(BKA) and expressed solidarity with the prisoners detained for the “urban guerilla”- action of the cores and remind of Alexi – same date: Hamburg attacked a police-station and torched two their cars. Name: KOUKOULOFORI – now some fans think they were Greeks (germoney gots 500000 and lots of them hate german media since a year cuz they bring nuthin) But as the name … nobody was it. ALEXI DID IT!
in Weimar an outsourced police-office got tried with arson and 6 cars got torched – the action to the pgs was related to greece. nearly every night s.u.vs and cars get attacked in Berlin,
Hamburg tries to win the league and they did a lot the last months! who will get into the euro finals?
Good luck comrades from afar, I wish I was helping the cause, but I have an ocean blocking me from the real heat
In Toronto, the anarchists are getting aggitated, our time is soon.
ey gabriel! whatcha think of throwing a tour for greek bands?
cheers
- I.
pl sleep!
plus hera and yeah:
we were all drinken the wrong medicine, so please delete our “comments” here. is confusing enough, sorry.
from Antidrasi:
“see this: we laugh about Athens
we are better!”
You’re kidding, right? Although I agree that anarks in northern Germany are quite lethal, especialy with their systematic anti-car attacks, the situation is nothing near insurrectional like in Greece.
Athens, and some other places in Greece is more like Berlin and West Germany in the ’70s… with many anarcho-terrorist groups and automous squats blooming all over the place, real street fighting against cops and repeated occupations of government buildings. But when you gonna see the same things happening in Berlin these days, I’ll be good enough to become the next pope! Berlin has become Europe’s capital of trendy leftist petit-bourgeois, hippies disguised as anarcho-autonomous and punk chauvinism, all garnered with state-of-the-art Police State.
I think you are right regarding the current situation in Germany and someone’s kidding, also the rest but not all. You are referring to the eighties i think but the situation is totally different. There was “no future” misunderstanding and a result of the baby-boom but also copycats – and them without internet! Today it’s a myth like the movement in Greece gets a myth for outside of Greece. (A myth like the word Squatters because the Squatters were this Europeans who fucked the Indians)
That’s dangerous, also it’s dangerous to talk about “anarcho terrorism” for most of the militant actions. Even the greek beourgois media writes about “arson” for little gas canisters and not “bombs”!
Counterinsurgency will teach the cops to play ice-hockey and they will get water cannons beside carrying fingerprints out of 850 detainees…
