Here are the footnotes

i. Patision Avenue is the traditional axis of protests and unrest, along its course is the Polytechneio and the Athens School of Economics; Acharnon marks the main axis of the part of the metropolitan centre’s immigrant populated areas, along its course is Agios Panteleimonas square where neo-nazis have imposed a reign of racist terror with the backing of the police.
ii. According to the greek constitution university grounds form an asylum where the police cannot enter.
iii. Deserted court-house next to Omonoia occupied by immigrants and evacuated by a combination of police and neo-nazi forces last spring.
iv. Public worship of Islam is illegal in Athens and most greek cities; second generation immigrants have no political rights; no immigrants, even with papers, can be employed in the civil services.
v. This office will supposedly contain and punish police violence.
vi. POSDEP is controlled by left-wing syndicalists who sponsored a march against violence. The march was never realised.
vii. The three anarchists are wanted in relation to the bank robbery during which Yannis Dimitrakis was shot and arrested. The state implicates them in a fictional anarchist robber group “the men in black” and is giving 600,000 euros for every one of them. At the same time, the ministry announced a 1,000,000 euros reward for information leading to the perpetrator of the attack with sulfuric acid against the cleaner autonomous unionist K. Kouneva last year burning her face and entrails.
viii. In the summer of 2002, after a bomb exploded in the hands of a middle-aged man in the harbour of Peireus, the state launched a huge manhunt which implicated dozens of people in the urban guerrilla group November 17. The Ministry of Public Order under the current minister, Chrisochoidis, directly managed private and public media broadcasts on the case with the purpose of bending the social perception of the guerrillas, which had been favourable or at least tolerant to their activities, and portraying the N17 as a criminal gang, not a child of the resistance to the junta and the collaborationist republic that followed it.
ix. Such warrants have been circulating since October in relation to the Cells of Fire Conspiracy urban guerrilla group.

the best way to support the greek uprising is to fight for freedom everywhere. it's not just a slogan, it's the truth. every move outside the borders is especially noticed and shows that the situation is global. the movement in greece very rarely makes calls for solidarity.
