The eight demonstrators arrested at last night’s demo in solidarity with Mohammad Atif Kamran appeared in front of the local attorney general. Five of the eight are charged with fellonies under the newly-introduced law in the country that bans hoodies at demonstrations. Another three are charged with misdemeanours. This is a very important charge as it is the first time since the law’s introduction that it is used against demonstrators.
Meanwhile, the occupation of the Nikaia Town Hall continues and the people in solidarity in the building held an assembly earlier on.
More updates as they come.

The town hall assembly has decided to end the occupation. Before this happened, the workers’ union of the town hall issued the following statement:
—-
Nikea City Hall is occupied by anarchist groups from the afternoon of Saturday after a protest, for the death of the unfortunate Pakistani immigrant, that took place against the Police Station of Nikea.
The union of workers demand that the repression forces leave from the the boundaries of the historic City of Nikea. The occupation of the City Hall by the protesters is a political act, and the attempt to criminalize it is unacceptable and undemocratic.
The workers of Kokkinia [“red neighborhood”] disapprove strongly the attack of the repression forces against the demonstrators and the excessive use of chemical gasses in a densely populated area. The police state cannot intimidate protesters and workers.
We demand the immediate clarification of the case of the death of our fellow man immigrant. We call the Minister of Protection of Citizen to deal himself with this dark case and not attempt to conceal the tragic case.
The union of workers protests strongly against xenophobia and racism that far right wing centers and paracenters are trying to impose on the Greek society.
WE DEMAND
-THE REPRESSION FORCES NOT TO RAID THE NIKEA CITY HALL.
-IMMEDIATE WITHDRAWAL OF THE POLICE FORCES FROM THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF NIKEA.
-CLARIFICATION OF THE CASE OF THE DEATH OF THE PAKISTANI IMMIGRANT.
-DEMOCRATIZATION OF GREEK POLICE AND THE FIRING OF THE FAR RIGHT WING ELEMENTS THAT ARE LOCATED IN IT.
