A few minutes ago, the investigating judge ordered the remaining two youths that appeared to him today in pre-trial detention. Yesterday, one youth was ordered in pre-trial detention and another was released on bail until trial. In total 3 out of the 4 arrested are now in detention until their trial (in Greece this can last up to 18 months) and arrest warrants are out for another six – still with no evidence shown on the part of the police. All that we now for certain so far is that the accused are all aged between 20 and 22 and that it is now 4 days before the snap-elections. Unrelated? Not at all. More and more people in the country are realising that this supposed “anti-terrorist” success is little other than people in the highest positions of authority within the police force desperately trying to cling onto their positions…
