#26, 11:50: Student shot in Peristeri, Athens; student demo set to start

Last night, a 16-year old student was shot and injured in the area of Peristeri, Athens, close to his school. The 16-year old was sitting with about ten more students, discussing future mobilisations. The shot came from a person unknown, though it is near-certain that this would be either an undercover cop or a fascist. The police only issued a statement hours later. When the 16-year old’s co-students returned to the point of the assault to collect the bullet’s shell, another bullet was shot at them.

Athens student demonstration is set to start, under some heavy rain.

More to follow.

    A suivre.

It seems it is a .22lb firegun or handgun, and not an air gun, as some initial reports suggested.

Correction: some dispute over the calibre, but most sources agree it is a firegun. Alpha radio mentioned a .22 mm handgun. Coverage also from tvxs.gr…

@Onur: The KKE has denounced the students as “talibans, drug dealers, hooligans” and so on. I don’t think their website has any fair information.

CHARP, the student’s father is a KKE union member (PAME) so KKE was quick to condemn the shooting. KKE also condemned the shooting of Alexis.

Ofc, nobody can deny the part of KKE in defusing all rebellions (inc. 1973) and protests and then claiming as their own in order to maximise political gains.

Btw, the sources within the police indicate its a .22 firearm

Here is the official statement by the police (press release)

    http://www.astynomia.gr/index.php?option=ozo_content&lang=‘..’&perform=view&id=1672&Itemid=326&lang=

It specifically mentions that it is a FIREARM

    translation:
A primary analysis (macroscopic) suggests that it is a lead shot from a firearm (not airgun). The exact caliber will be verified after lab analysis.
